1000 Days: Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s Health Worsens; Sikh Leaders Pledge Support

KHADOOR SAHIB- As Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger protest today reached 1,000 days, his health has started worsening. A source close to Bapu Ji told Sikh24 that while his health has been diminishing for past several months, it has worsened significantly in the past few days.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa was having difficulty speaking and breathing, our source told us. Meanwhile, a number of Sikh leaders also pledged continued support to Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. At the 73rd Foundation Anniversary of All India Sikh Students Federation, several resolutions were passed by the community leaders, one of them was to stand strongly with Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.In another resolution, the community leaders called for 1984 Sikh genocide cases to be decided at their earliest. A resolution to continue campaign to install CCTV cameras in all Gurdwaras and to continue fight against social evils like dowry, female infanticide, drug menace, apostasy etc. was also passed on this occasion.
Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has been on hunger protest since January 16, 2015, for the release of political Sikh prisoners who have completed their terms.
