250 BUSES TO BE ADDED TO EXITING FLEET BY OCTOBER- KOHAR

Patiala, May 27: the Punjab government would add a fleet of 250 buses to the existing buses in Punjab Road Transport Corporation by October 2015.
This was disclosed here today by Punjab Transport Minister S. Ajit Singh Kohar while flagging off the 20 new buses with Global Positioning System (GPS) installed in the buses. He said that it was for the first time that the GPS was put in the metallic colour ultra modern buses to keep a track on these buses especially on long routes.
Earlier addressing a massive gathering in the local bus stand, the minister said that with the guidance of Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal and far sighted approach of Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal and Finance Minister S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa these new buses could be added to the PRTC fleet of buses. He said that another 250 buses would be added to the existing fleet of about 873 Buses of PRTC by October this year. He also said that besides this, 150 buses more would be added under per km scheme out of which 38 HAVC and 12 Volvo buses would be included. The Minister also said that 1300 electronic machines have been purchased and handed over to the conductors for ticket punching. He also said that new bus stands at Rama Mandi and Faridkot would be dedicated to the public shortly.
