Attack on Germany Gurdwara: Third Suspect Detained by Police

ESSEN. Germany : Media reports published in Germany with reference of investigation authorities have claimed that ISIS was responsible for the blast that took place outside Gurdwara Nanaksar Satsang Sabha in Essen. As per a report by ARD Startseite, Essen police have arrested three suspects. One of the suspects, a 16 year old teenager has confessed to planting the bomb outside the Gurdwara Sahib that injured 3, including the Granthi (priest). This teenager has been identified as Yusuf T from Gelsenkirchen.
As per initial investigation reports, Yusuf sympathizes with radical Islamist groups and he was under the watch for posting in favour of ISIS activities on his Facebook account. He was arrested on April 20 and is currently in custody. Another suspect, Mohammed B., also aged 16 is being questioned by the police. Essen Police Commissioner Frank Richter on April 22 said that while early investigations reveal “clear references to terrorism”, more investigations need to take place. He refused to comment on further details of the suspects until investigations were complete.
According to Richter, suspects have “partially admitted” the attack, but did not disclose their motives. A third arrest took place earlier today, April 22, however, no details have been released on the suspect.
German authorities are attempting to see if the suspects are part of a larger extremist group which could carry out similar acts in the country. Police have pledged to protect the Sikh community of Essen.
“I find it shocking that people who grew up among us are in a position and willing to build bombs and risk the lives of others,” State Interior Minister Ralf Jäger said during a press conference.
