Australia vs South Africa: Trevor Hohns named Australia’s interim chairman of selectors

Sydney : Trevor Hohns was appointed the interin chairman of selectors, Cricket Australia announced on Thursday. The decision followed after Rod Marsh opted to stand down as full-time chairman after Australia’s series loss against South Africa. Greg Chappell also joined the panel on interim basis, relinquishing his role as National Talent Manager.
Hohns, who was national selector from 1993 to 2006, including 10 years as chairman of the panel, will help “enable a complete recruitment process to be conducted for the role and for the necessary continuity in the selection processes,” a CA release state.“It is vital that Australian cricket finds the best candidate for this role,” David Peever, CA’s chairman, said. “Trevor is highly experienced as a selector, and will ensure we place our best players on the field this summer while we seek a permanent replacement for Rod.” Chappell, on the other hand, was first appointed selector in 1984 before being re-appointed in 2010. He, however, took on the role of a National Talent Manager since 2011 where he oversaw CA’s Youth Pathway program.
