Badal meets family of SP Baljit Singh, assures full support

KAPURTHALA: Reiterating State government’s firm commitment to extend all possible help to the bereaved family of the slain SP Baljit Singh, who made a supreme sacrifice in defending country’s unity and integrity, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said, “Our government would ever be at family’s beck and call and leave no stone unturned to help them in this hour of grief”.The Chief Minister who visited the hapless family to share his heartfelt condolences with the distressed family said that the countrymen would ever remain indebted to unparalleled sacrifice made by SP Baljit Singh, who attained martyrdom to safeguard the security and sovereignty of the country.Paying glorious tributes to the great martyr SP Baljit Singh, who had brought glory to the country in general and especially to Punjab being the son of the soil through his exemplary courage, professional commitment and gallantry deeds during the call of his duty. He recalled the unprecedented sacrifice made by SP Baljit Singh had saved our nation and state from colossal loss and destruction beyond anyone’s imagination. Mr. Badal said that the family of this brave son of Punjab must feel proud and honoured as he attained martyrdom rather dying an ordinary death. “It’s a huge loss, I understand but instead of grieving his demise, you should feel proud on his martyrdom as he saved thousands of innocent lives in the country by laying down his life for a greater cause”, added Mr. Badal.
Recalling the gallantry traditions of sacrifice in the family, the Chief Minister said that Punjab had always championed the cause of peace, communal harmony and brotherhood due to the sacrifices made by such valiant people. He said that all countrymen were with the family of this national hero, who had laid down his life at the altar of his motherland to protect its sovereignty and honour. “Follow the high ideals set by your forefathers to serve the country with utmost zeal and dedication”, Mr. Badal solaced the children.The Chief Minister assured the grieved family members that the state government was duty bound to help them in this hour of crisis and every step would be taken to extend a helping hand to the family.Later on interacting with the media persons, the Chief Minister highly appreciated the Punjab Police for tackling this terror attack efficaciously. He said that Punjab Police has shown that it was fully capable to deal with such situation at any point of time. Mr. Badal said that Army and Para Military forces were meant for some bigger operations adding that in case the situation warranted their involvement then the state government would not have hesitated to hand over the command of counter insurgency operation to the Army.Replying to another query, the Chief Minister said that since long Punjab had remained a Peaceful state as no such untoward incident had taken place in recent past. However, he said that this operation had given an opportunity to reassess the situation and overcome our weaknesses and follies, if any. “We will certainly take stock of the entire situation and examine the finer details of operation so as to undertake modernization of Police force, if needed”, added Mr. Badal.The Chief Minister said that it was the high time to boost the morale of our forces so as to crush the ugly head of anti social elements trying to disrupt the hard earned peace besides retarding the pace of progress and development in the state. He said that it was the moral responsibility of every countryman to avert any danger, threat and challenge posed to our country’s security and integrity. Mr. Badal made firm resolve that the state government would not allow anybody to disturb the hard earned peace and communal harmony in the state at any cost.
