Bajwa visits martyr’s family, Punjab govt yet to announce compensation

PATHANKOT: Partap Singh Bajwa, President, PPCC today visited the family of Late Sepoy Manjit Singh at his village Akhwana in District Pathankot. Manjit Singh, working with Dogra regiment, was killed in an ambush in Manipur. Manjit Singh was cremated with full military honours on Sunday.
Large number of people from across party lines had attended the cremation of Manjit Singh. He is survived by wife Kajal Guleria and parents. Thye brother of the martyred sepoy Sandeep Singh is also serving in the Indian army who lite the pyre of his brother. He said that he was proud of his brother who laid life for the country.
Dinesh Singh Babbu Deputy Speaker Punjab also visited the family. BJP leader and former Minister Master Mohan Lal was also among those who paid tributes to the martyr. However no senior leader of ruling Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD0 had found time to visit the family. Neither Punjab Government has announced any compensation package for the family of soldier. The Himachal Pradesh Government has given Rs.five lakh each to seven soldiers from the state killed in Manipur.
