BC Sikh Community Gets Ready for Election at Largest Canadian Gurdwara

SURREY, 1 June : Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara is set to have another election anytime later this year. While the voting date is yet to be confirmed, registration for becoming a voting member is coming to an end tomorrow. Those that want to vote need to register as members again even if they had already registered three years ago for the last election. Registration can be confirmed anytime between 10 AM to 3 PM.The Gurdwara Sahib has been in the hands of a Panthik Slate for the last two terms (a total of six years). The Sikh Youth of BC won the elections in 2009 and in 2012 with a large margin of support from the community, who were fed up with the old “moderate Sikh” slates.
The new Youth Slates brought with them energy and gave new life to the Gurdwara Sahib which has become the hub of the community once again. The Gurdwara Sahib has catered to needs of all, youth, women, seniors and has made great progression over the past six years. All Panthik minded Gursikhs are requested to sign up and vote to help keep the Gurdwara Sahib in Panthik hands.
