Big jolt to Sukhbir Badal- Canada, USA, England teams boycott World Kabaddi Cup in protest of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib

CHANDIGARH : Sukhbir Singh Badal President of Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) and Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, who is hosting World Kabaddi Cup 2016, has got a big jold from Punjabi Non-resident Indians(NRIs) as the three main teams of Canada, USA and England have boycotted the Kabaddi Cup inaugurated by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at Ropar on Thursday.
NRI community is disillussioned from the Parkash Singh Badal government in Punjab due its failure to arrest the culprits of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, the drug menace and poor governacne. The NRI’s in these countries had held protest against Akali leaders when they visited early this year.
Sukhbir Badal had claimed that 11 teams including India, Argentina, United States of America, England, Canada, Australia, Iran, Sweden, Tanzania, Kenya and Sierra Leone would vie for men title whereas in Women section eight teams including that of India, Sieraa Leone, Kenya, United States of America, Mexico, Tanzania, New Zealand and Sri Lanka would be participating. The team of Iran has also refused to come to India, reports said while Pakistan team has already refused to come due to border tension between india and Pakistan.
The Kabaddi federations of Canada, USA and England have announced that thet were boycotting the Kabaddi World Cup due to non arrest of accused of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. The Kabaddi federations ahve said that they would also boycott the players participating in the Kabaddi Cup.
Lalli Dhesi President of National Kabaddi Fewderation of Canada British Columbia and Alberta, Jass Johal President of President Kabaddi Federation of Ontario, Surinder Singh Atwal President California Kabaddi Federation of USA, Ranjit Singh Dhadha President of UK Kabaddi Fderation, Goldi Sandhu President of England Kabaddi Federation of UK and repersentatives of common Europe Kabaddi Federation Raghvir Singh Kahlon, Pinka Sekhon and Jagga Deol in a joint statement have said durign last one year Guru Granth Sahib was sacrileged at about 87 places but the government machinery failed to catch even single culprit responsible for the henious crime. They siad that if Guru Granth Sahib is not secure in Punjab then how can Badal government gurantte the security of Kabaddi players. The Kabaddi Federations said that they were deeply hurt at incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and similarly Sikhs in India are also feeling the pain. They said that to express their protest, they have boycotted the World Kabaddi Cup being hosted by ruling SAD. They also announced that those players participating in the kabaddi cup would not be allowed to aprticipate in kabaddi tournaments in Canada, USA and England.
