BJP lodges formal complaint with ED against Rana Gurjit

Jalandhar : The Punjab BJP on Saturday met the Enforcement Directorate officials here and demanded the registration of cases against Rana Gurjit and seven others for the alleged scam reported during the allotment of sand mine contracts in the state.
The other accused are Amit Bahadur, Kulwinder Paul, Balraj Singh, Avtar Singh Gill, Ajit Pal Singh Gill, Sanjit Singh Randhawa and Capt JS Randhawa.
Harjit Singh Grewal, state vice president of the BJP, accompanied by state BJP secretary Vineet Joshi, Manjit Singh Rai, general secretary, and Kewal Kumar, BJP general secretary, said that as it was clearly proved at the outset that these are the cases of proxy bidding by Rana Gurjit Singh to capture the mining business of Punjab, it is also a violation of the oath taken in the name of the Constitution while assuming office of a cabinet minister.
Speaking to The Tribune later, Grewal said though Amit Bahadur, the ex-cook of Rana Gurjit who is now working in the HR department in Rana’s company has won the Rs 26 crore mining contract, he had less than Rs 1 lakh income in return filed for 2015-16.
The BJP leaders claimed that the contact numbers given in the bid applications were same as of Amit Bahadur and all of them have emails registered from the same domain owned by the official CA of Rana Gurjit. “We have urged the officials to track the money laundering and hawala component in the biddings and bring the culprit to the court of law,” Grewal said.
