Crowd of Sikhs Converged at Akal Takhat to procure Jathedar Hawara’s Release

AMRITSAR : On the eve of Human Rights Day, various groups held “Sikh Rights – Sikh Freedom” March carrying demand to release of Jagtar Singh Hawara, who was appointed Jathedar of Akal Takhat presently undergoing “life to death sentence”.Crowd of Sikh activists marched to Akal Takhat carrying placards “Free Jathedar Hawara”.Jagtar Singh Hawara who is presently incarcerated in Tihar Jail for the assassination of Beant Singh, was unanimously elected to lead Sikh community on November 10th during Sarbat Khalsa attended by several hundred thousand’s, added All India Sikh Student Federation President Karnail Singh Peermohammad.
A coalition of Sikh religious, political and human rights groups announced to install CCTV cameras in village gurdawaras and designate “PanthicPehredars” in every village to put a check on the continuous desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Peermohammad.”Inspired by the call given by Jathedar Hawara, We will install cameras in village gurdawaras and will designate “PanthicPehredar” in every village to unearth the conspiracy and to stop the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib”, announced Peermohammad.“Under the guard of “Panthic Pehredars”, no one will ever dare to desecrate our holy book and asked Sikh youth to come forward and take on responsibility”, added Peermohammad.Announcement by Sikh outfits to install cameras and designate “Panthic Pehredars” comes on the heels of Punjab wide protests by the Sikhs community over the continuous desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and failure of the administration to nab those who dared to challenge, said he.
