Darshan Brar, son booked for ‘sexual remarks’ against Malti

Moga : Senior Congress leader Darshan Brar and his son Kamaljit Brar have been booked for allegedly outraging the modesty of former minister and senior Congress leader Dr Malti Thapar.Malti in her written complaint alleged the father-son duo had insulted her by passing sexual remarks and hurling abuses at her. Confirming this to The Tribune, SSP Mukhwinder Singh said an FIR under sections 354-A, 509 and 34 of the IPC had been registered against the accused at the Moga City-I police station. The investigation has been handed over to SHO Jasvarinder Singh. Both the accused were still at large, he said. As per the details available, during the Congress protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the National Herald case at the main square in Moga city on December 19, Thapar referred to Brar as the former district president of the party. This irked the father-son duo. “They abused me and passed sexual remarks against me,” Malti told the police.
She had also complained to party president Sonia Gandhi and PPCC chief Captain Amarinder Singh, confirmed a member of Malit’s family.
On the other hand, Brar denied the allegations. Most senior Congress leaders in Moga are not on good terms with Darshan Brar because he is aggressively promoting his son Kamaljit Brar’s candidature for the upcoming Assembly elections from Baghapurana constituency. Brar, on the other hand, is keen on contesting from Moga Assembly seat. Therefore, Brar is opposing Dr Malti Thapar and others.
