Dhoni offers to step down as ODI captain post Bangladesh series loss

London, June 22 : India’s ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has offered to step down after the side suffered the first-ever series defeat against Bangladesh on Sunday. Bangladesh took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series with a six-wicket win over the World Cup semi-finalists in Dhaka yesterday.Reflecting on the defeat, Dhoni said if it is a justifiable thing that Indian cricket would start doing really well from the moment of his removal then he would love to step away and play as a player, the Guardian reported.The 33-year-old, who guided India to the 2011 World Cup glory, further said that he was never really in line to become a captain as it was a job or responsibility for him.Dhoni added that he is happy to give the captaincy away.India will meet Bangladesh in the third and final ODI in Dhaka on Wednesday.
