Earthquake in Nepal: Hundreds trapped as iconic Bhimsen Tower collapses

April 25, 2015 (2:09 pm): Dharahara which is also called Bhimsen Tower was also devastated in the major earthquake in Nepal on Saturday. A strong earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale rocked Nepal at 11.41 a.m. India time. The tremors were felt from Delhi to Guwahati and Srinagar to Jaipur. The aftershocks continued to half and hour. It was a nine storey tall tower at the center of Sundhara, Kathmandu. It was located in the city of Kathmandu, and is a part of Architecture of Kathmandu recognized by UNESCO. According to the India Meteorological Department, the depth of earthquake was 10 km and measured 6 on the Richter scale in India.
