First Jatha Courts Arrest at Fatehgarh Sahib in Support of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa

FATEHGARH SAHIB, Punjab (May 16, 2015)—First Jatha of 62 Singhs courted its arrest at Fatehgarh Sahib as a sign of protest against illegal detention of political Sikh prisoners by the Punjab Government. It is notable that the decision of courting arrest at will was taken in the Panthik Conference of May 10 at village Hassanpur.
Sikh sangat arrived early in the morning at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. Various speakers shared their views and encouraged the sangat to support the initiative of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. Bapu Ji is on a hunger strike since January 16, 2015 against the illegal detention of political Sikh prisoners. A number of Sikh prisoners remained lodged despite the completion of their terms.
