Heavy shelling across LoC; residents told to stay indoors, schools closed

Jammu : Shelling between Indian and Pakistan security forces continued on India-Pakistan border in Jammu on Saturday, forcing authorities to advise residents to remain indoors. Heavy firing was reported in the Rajouri sector and was still under way when this report was filed.The shelling that began on the Jammu Frontier on Friday continued until 2 am on Saturday. The Border Security Forces claimed on Friday that they killed seven Pakistani Rangers and a terrorist. One BSF trooper was also critically injured in a sniper attack.Shelling was also reported in Octroi and Abdullian posts of RS Pura sectors. The firing began after Pakistan violated ceasefire on Friday.Some 55-80 schools were closed on Saturday in the wake of the latest round of firing.There has been frequent exchange of fire between the two countries since India launched coordinated surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads across the border on September 28.
