Indian-origin oldest Brit dies within a week of turning 111

London, June 23: Britain’s oldest man of Indian origin has died within a week of celebrating his 111 birthday.
Nazar Singh, who was born in Punjab in 1904, but had lived in England for 50 years with one of his nine children after moving to Sunderland in 1989, died on June 20 morning while visiting his relatives in India, the Mirror has reported.His grandson Harvinder Gill paid tribute to him and said that his grand-dad was an incredible person and had lived a very happy and fulfilling life.Gill, 31, added that his grandfather, who had 34 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren, had survived two world wars and the Great Depression, and had been suffering from pneumonia for the past few weeks.Singh also received a letter from the Queen on his 100th birthday, and had been getting one every year since, along with an annual letter and phone call from the Department For Work and Pensions.Now, the oldest person alive is 116-year-old Jeralean Talley, from the United States, who was born in 1899.
