Khaira: Appoint neutral observers from Delhi

Says Sanjay, Durgesh should withdraw from state affairs
Jalandhar : Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sukhpal Khaira said today that the party rank and file has demanded that the Delhi leadership, including Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak, should withdraw from the affairs of the state.
Having already said that the absence of CM face in Punjab and too much interference of the Delhi leadership had taken a toll on the party in the state Assembly elections, he said a total re-structuring of the Punjab unit was required where a new team of president, working committee and frontal cells should be built.
Criticising some of the decisions of his own party, Khaira said, “Even AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who somehow did not want to hand over Punjab’s baton to Capt Amarinder, chose to bow down before the call of the people. This they did in the interests of the party. This is actually a victory of Capt Amarinder and not that of the Congress”.“Likewise, as our party was being targeted as being an outsiders’ party, our Delhi leaders instead went ahead and showed their over participation. They should have ideally helped build an organisation here and left on time. But they did not even listen to our suggestions and stayed back for ticket distribution too. We faced several allegations at that stage, bringing down the graph of the party,” he added.Without naming his colleagues, the Bholath MLA said, “Many Punjab leaders simply indulged in sycophancy and did not share real situation, which added to the problem. Punjab results will affect our prospects in other states too. Our party’s national convener was getting projected as a PM face. It has dampened the growth of the party nationally. If we improve in the next two years, we can make a mark by 2019.”
