Op Blue Star anniversary: Police holds flag march in Amritsar

AMRITSAR: In view of 30th anniversary of Operation Blue Star to be observed at Akal Takht on June 6th, police today held meeting with the top officials of SGPC with regard to security aspects as large number of Sikh devotees are expected to assemble at Akal Takht.
Police Commissioner Mr. Jatinder Singh Aulakh here today said that throughout the day three flag march were taken out in the city in three different locations in the city including one from Hall Bazar to Jallainwalla Bagh. Aulakh said that police are on high alert ahead of the Operation Bluestar anniversary here on June 6 in view of the last years’ bloody clash broke out on this occasion at Akal Takht.Aulakh said he held a meeting with SGPC officials who assured him that SGPC task force to take care of security inside the complex including Akal Takht premises. He said the police would extend full help to SGPC if need arise. He said the police force had already been deployed in all sensitive areas of the city and entry points.Police today also checked “sarais” (inns) and private lodges around the Golden Temple and hotels around city railway station and bus stand to check the presence of suspected elements. Aulakh said more than two thousand police personnel were deployed to all sensitive points of city to ensure that there shouldn’t be any untoward incident. Commenting about the June 6th Bandh call given by the Radical Sikhs, Aulakh said police would not allow anybody to forceful closure of business establishments.
