Oppn MLAs meet Guv, demand minister’s ouster

Chandigarh : Seeking the removal of Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit Singh, MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Lok Insaaf Party today submitted a memorandum to the Governor.
Leader of Opposition HS Phoolka, state AAP convener Bhagwant Mann, co-convener Aman Arora, and MLAs Sukhpal Khaira and Simarjeet Singh Bains led the delegation.
They told the Governor that the recent auction of quarries had exposed the involvement of Rana Gurjit through benami transactions.
The MLAs said the decision of the Congress government to set up a one-man probe commission with “tailor-made” terms of reference clearly show its attempt to help the minister. “His former employees are acting as his front men to gain financially by abusing his position. An inquiry in this regard must be done by a sitting judge of the High Court,” they said, demanding immediate dismissal of the minister from the Cabinet.
CPI, too, wants him sacked
In a separate press release, the state executive of the CPI said Rana Gurjit should resign immediately and if he refused to do so, he should be sacked.
