Padmavati: Distortion of history will not be accepted, says Punjab CM

Chandigarh, November 20 : Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh said those who were protesting against the film ‘Padmavati’ were right as the distortion of history would not be accepted. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the film, which has distorted facts against Padmavati, would not be released in the state.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the ongoing controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical drama “Padmavati”, labelling it as “unfortunate” and a “calculated plan” to destroy freedom of expression. Protests are being held across the country ever since the promos of the film were out demanding a complete ban on the film, which they alleged the filmmaker made with distorted facts. Many groups have been opposing the film fearing the movie would depict a romantic relationship between Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) and Allaudin Khilji (Ranveer Singh.
