Punjab Congress asks people of Punjab to follow NRIs and rise in protest against Badals

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress today urged the people of Punjab to rise in peaceful protests against the tyrannical and unjust rule of the Badal government, on the lines of North American Punjabi’s who raised the banner of revolt against visiting SAD ministers and leaders.
Sukhpal Singh Khaira PPCC sapokesman and former MLA in a statement here said that the widespread protests by the Punjabi’s and Sikhs of North America against the visiting Akali leaders, are nothing but expression of extreme resentment, anguish and grudge they hold against the injustice, goonda-raj and anti people policies of the SAD-BJP government. Although, the NRI fraternity are leading a very comfortable life in countries like USA, Canada etc., but they chose to oppose Akali leaders like Tota Singh, Sikander Singh Maluka, Chandumajra etc. and earn their wrath, merely because of the pathetic plight of Punjabi’s living here.
Although, there is strong wave of anger against the Badal family and the Akali Dal across the state, but at the moment people are scared and terrorized by the “Danda-Raj” of the police and for the fear of being implicated in false cases. But I am of the firm opinion, that it is now the prime duty of each self respecting Punjabi, to come forward and hold similar peaceful protests against the tyrannical and draconian Badal government, in every nook and corner of the state.
The Junior Badal may have tried to play down the protests by terming it an anti India act by Khalistani activists or Pakistani agents, but the ground reality is that the Badal’s are shell shocked by the vigorous opposition handed out by the NRI’s. Because it is these very NRI’s and Sikhs who not only supported the Akali Dal but were a major source of funding for their party.
The junior Badal has very conveniently labeled the protesting NRI’s as Khalistani’s, but he forgot that his octogenarian father was a part of the delegation lead by S.S.Mann in the year 1992 at Delhi, to meet Mr. Boutros Boutros Ghali the then visiting Secretary General of UNO, to demand a sovereign Sikh state of Khalistan.
The NRI’s particularly the Sikhs, are badly miffed over the anti Sikh and anti Panthic agenda pursued by the Badal family over the years. Videos that have gone viral show the NRI’s questioning the appointment of Sumedh Saini as DGP Punjab and the election of Izhar Alam’s wife as MLA Malerkotla, both known anti Sikh officers.
The NRI’s are also deeply anguished by the perpetration of gross jungle-raj, goondaism, extreme politicization of the Punjab Police, rampant corruption, flourishing drug menace, unemployment and other burning issues facing Punjab. They are also particularly angry over the blatant “loot” of Punjab by the Badal family, who have hijacked the important businesses of transport, cable network, real estate, hotels, bulk liquor, illegal sand mining and thus have amassed ill-gotten wealth to the tune of thousands of crores.Congress congratulates the brave youth of V. Deep Singh Wala in Faridkot, for having put up a board outside the village banning the entry of junior Badal, for falsely implicating young boys and girls in a case u/s 307 while protesting the Moga Orbit case.Therefore, keeping in view conversion of Punjab into a banana state, a police state and a deplorable place to live for an ordinary citizen, Congress urges all Punjabi’s to take a cue from the NRI’s and the brave youth of V. Deep Singh Wala and rise in peaceful protests across the state, against the SAD-BJP alliance in general and the corrupt Badals in particular.
