Punjab Congress not to contest Khadoor Sahib bye-election, confirms Amarinder

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress has decided not to contest the Khaadoor Sahib bye-election after former MLA Ramanjit Sikki refused to file nomination papers. The decision likelty to harm the ruling SAD as Congress voters may turn towards rebel AAP canddiate Bhai Baldeep Singh.
Captain Amarinder PPCC President at a meet the press conference here at Press Club said that conflicting reports were coming about Congress stand on Khadoor Sahib bye-election. He said that since Sikki former Congress MLA was not keen to contest, the party has decided not to contest the elections. Sikki had resigned from his MLA seat in protest against sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. He reportedly maintained that samed circumstances still prevailed under which he had resigned.
Capt Singh said that Sikki did not consult him before resigning. He said that Sikki was more committed to Guru Granth Sahib that the polls.
Amarinder Singh asserted that people of Punjab were fed up from the present situation in Punjab and they want to live in peace. He said that when voted to power Congress would set up commission to inquire about the incidents of violence and sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
Captain Amarinder said that suicides by farmers were major concern of Congress party. He ridiculed the AAP claims that Congress was not serious player in Punjab. He said that AAP had lost its credibility and it would loose all four seats, it won last time, if elections are held today.
