Punjab officers to take oath against drug trafficking

CHANDIGARH: In an unusual move, which casts shadow on the integrity of officers, the Punjab government has issued directions to all the officers posted in the Main and Mini Secretariats to ensure their presence on the International day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking to be observed on June 26, 2015.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the government said that on the International day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking, Mr. K.A.P. Sinha IAS, Secretary General Administration, would administer pledge to the officers/employees at 11 am in Punjab Civil Secretariat premises while Mr. Balwant Singh PCS Additional Secretary General Administration would administer similar pledge to the officers/employees in Punjab Civil Secretariat-2.
An official on the condition of anniminty said that officers join the government service under pledge and now asking them to take oath amounts to lack of faith in the integrity. He said that it would have been better if all politicians were asked to take oath against trafficking on international drug day.
