RIP Sonam, the 4-year-old girl killed in Hema Malini car accident!

RIP Sonam. Who is Sonam? She was a four-year old girl who lost her life in the high-profile car accident involving actress turned politician Hema Malini. The accident took place on late Thursday night this week after Hema Malini’s Mercedes collided with the Alto carrying a family of five in Dausa. There were pictures of 66-year-old Member of Parliament in blood splashed across the social media and on television but not much word on the little kid who lost her life! The statements like ‘Hema Malini is safe’ kept doing rounds but what happened to family members of deceased Sonam is quite appalling. While the initial eyewitness reported the actress to be ‘drunk driving’ but it is her driver Mahesh Thakur who has been arrested on charges of rash driving, causing death by negligence, besides others. The Bollywood film personality got hurt on eyes, nose and forehead. She was immediately taken to Fortis Hospital in Jaipur where she had undergone a CT scan. Meanwhile, the surviving members of Sonam’s family were sent to Sawai Maan Singh Hospital, where the treatment was given late. It is disturbing to understand the logic behind the two parties involved in the accident being given two types of treatment. After all both the hospitals, Fortis and Sawai Maan Singh are in Jaipur. The family of the dead girl were upset over the fact that had quicker medication been provided, chances of Sonam’s survival would have increased. Her family consisted of Sonam’s father Hanuman Khandelwal (31), his wife Shikha (26), son Somil (4) and sister-in-law Seema (45).
