Sacrilege incidents: Panel to submit part of report by month-end

Nabha, December 18 : The Justice Ranjit Singh Commission investigating the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and other religious books would be submitting part of its report to the state government by December-end.
The part of the investigation report to be submitted by the commission would constitute the inquiry conducted by the commission on sacrilege incidents in Behbal Kalan, Bargadi and Kotkapura area.
Justice Ranjit Singh on Monday visited two villages Chahal and Kakrali here and interacted with the people and the panchayat members and gathered the data related to the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
The commission was investigating the sacrilege from all angles, including personal enmity, terrorist activity or conspiracy to disturb peace in Punjab. The commission was constituted by the state government headed by Capt Amarinder Singh on April 14 this year and started functioning from May. The commission had been mandated to look into the inconclusive investigation done by the police after the incidents.Commission chairman Justice Ranjit Singh (retd), who was accompanied by Joint Director Prosecution Angrez Singh Randhawa and Registrar JP Mehmi, said a total of 122 incidents of sacrilege were reported in the state from 2015. He said the maximum incidents were reported from Amritsar, Ludhiana and Jalandhar, 20 from Ludhiana district alone. He said he would submit part of its report about the incidents at Behbal Kalan, Bargadi and Kotkapura by December-end.
