Sand Mafia still active in Deputy Chief Minister own district, despite assurances in the state Assembly: Sunil Jakhar

Chandigarh : The former leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Sunil Jakhar has lambasted over the ongoing theft of natural resources in the form of illegal sand mining and recovery of illegal taxes by the self appointed unionists in Fazilka district. Sunil Jakhar blamed the state government for shielding sand mafia in the Fazilka district by using local civil and police administration.He blamed that sand mafia is doing illegal mining and forcibly collecting taxes from the transporting vehicle. While showing fake slips of tax recovery, Sunil Jakhar said that it seemed that there is no any law in the state and it has been converted in to a Jungle Raaj. He also mentioned that despite raising this issue of sand mafia in the state assembly by him, the state government did not take any effective steps to curb this problem. He said that in the last assembly session, Deputy Chief Minister had assured us to take strict action against the sand mafia and had also sought the report from inspector general of police.Sunil Jakhar mentioned that by violating all government rules and regulation pertaining to the mining, the sand mafia is doing illegal mining in the various villages of border district Fazilka. He said that sand mafia has been charging more price as compare to earmark by the state government. He also alleged that mining mafia along with some officials showing less mining in the government register as compare to actual mining.Expressing his anguish over the role of BJP, he said that BJP is holding equal share in all sins of state government. He said that SAD-BJP government have been exploiting consumers and giving new heights to the corruption in the state.
