SGPC Paid Rs. 4 Crore To Purchase Rights of the Film “Chaar Sahibzade”

AMRITSAR SAHIB : It has been learnt that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) paid Rs. 4 crores to purchase the rights for the movie “Chaar Sahibzade” from its director Harry Baweja. The movie has been termed controversial by many across the world.All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) Bhai Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad termed the payment as loot of ‘Guru Ki Golak’ and demanded probe into the matter.He said that Baweja has already earned lot of money from the film by taking help from the SGPC and other Sikh organizations. After getting no objection certificate (NOC) from the SGPC, the film could be released on Nov 6, 2014 throughout the world. Cooperation from the SGPC worked well in Bajewa’s favour, he said.Meanwhile, Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh said that SGPC’s executive committee should withdraw the decision of purchasing the film.On being contacted, SGPC additional secretary (Dharam Parchar) Balwinder Singh Jaurasingha justified the move arguing that without having rights, SGPC would not be able to screen the film for Parchar.
