SGPC Purchases DVD Rights of Chaar Sahibzade; Constitutes Sub-Committee to Appoint Chief Secretary

AMRITSAR SAHIB May 24 : In a meeting, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) resolved to appoint a chief secretary to manager internal affairs. For the purpose, the SGPC on Friday set up a 3-member sub-committee. The meeting was attended by executive members of the SGPC.
SGPC senior vice-president Raghujit Singh Virk, general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur and executive committee member Rajinder Singh Mehta have been included in the sub-committee. As per a statement issued by the public relations, the appointment of the chief secretary will be made on contractual basis.
This is for the second time that the supreme Gurdwara body is going to appoint a chief secretary. Prior to this, Manjeet Singh Calcutta was working as chief secretary for a particular period. However, the post was terminated once his term got over.In the meeting, the executive committee also took several other key decisions. As per release, the SGPC has purchased the DVD rights of animated film ‘Chaar Sahibzade’ for parchar of Sikh religion. The body have purchased 18.5 acres worth Rs 73 crore for Khalsa College in Patiala .Talking about the SGPC’s relief work in Nepal in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake, the SGPC members said even Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has commended the SGPC for its humanitarian work.
