South Carolina church shooting: 9 killed as gunman opened fire in Emanuel AME church

Washington, June 18: An unidentified gunman opened fire at a church in South Carolina killing at least 9 people. A gunman, aged around 21 opened fire at historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston of South California. The officials have confirmed that 9 people died in the attack.
Charleston police chief Greg Mullen while addressing a press conference after the shooting said that eight people were found dead on the spot while one lost life in hospital. One other person was taken to a hospital. Police did not confirm the number of survivors or their condition.Police have begun a hunt operation to nab the culprit. The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime. Mayor Joe Riley condemned the attack and termed it “unspeakable tragedy”. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott also denounced that attack and assured that justice will be delivered to the victims.
