So you thought Virat Kohli was rich? Indeed he is, but just enough to take the 83rd spot, with earnings of $24 million, among the top-100 earners of the sporting world. American boxer Floyd Mayweather tops this year’s Forbes List with a mindboggling $285 million earnings, roughly 12 times than Kohli’s.

Brazilian Neymar is the third soccer star in the top-five. He jumps 13 spots to fifth with an income of $90 million, including $19 million from endorsement partners

Virat Kohli is placed 83rd with earnings of $24 million, of which $20m is estimated to have come from endorsements and the remaining $4m from his salary. The only Indian on the list, he was ranked 89th last year with earnings of $22m.

No place for women
Surprisingly, the list has no woman athlete. Serena Williams was the only woman to feature in the top 100 last year, but her prize money dropped from $8 million to $62,000 this year after she gave birth to her daughter, Alexis, in September.
11 Number of disciplines the athletes making the list are from. NBA stars lead with a record 40 basketball players among the top-100, headed by LeBron James (No. 6 with $85.5 million). Football is the next most-represented sport with 18 players, followed by baseball with 14 and American football with 9.
22 Number of countries represented on this year’s list. The US has 66 athletes, the UK has five, led by F1’s Lewis Hamilton, the Dominican Republic and Spain have three athletes, while Argentina, Brazil, France, Japan and Venezuela all have two.
