Srijit Mukherjee brings ‘Zulfikar’ to mark 4th century of Shakespeare’s death

New Delhi : To mark the 400th death anniversary of the ‘Bard of Avon,’ National Award winning director Srijit Mukherjee has come up with a Bengali movie ‘Zulfikar,’ based on adaptation of two of William Shakespeare’s tragedies: Julius Caesar and Antony and Cleopatra.Film Critic Taran Adarsh today took to his Twitter handle to share the teaser poster of the movie, which is set to release this Durga Puja.”Today marks the 400th death anniversary of Shakespeare… Teaser poster of Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali film #Zulfiqar,” read his tweet along with the poster.The poster shows the male protagonist of the movie standing, tuning their back, with guns in hands, in a shady atmosphere.’ Zulfikar’ will have some of Tollywood’s best actors together, such as, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Dev, Jisshu Sengupta, Parambrata Chatterjee and others.The 38-year-old director has been a director who bridged the between commercial and parallel cinema in Bengali film industry.His fifth film ‘Jaatishwar’ won four National Awards at 61st National Film Awards in 2014.The very next year, Mukherjee won the National Film Award for ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Original Screenplay’ for his sixth film ‘Chotushkone’ at 62nd National Film Awards.
