State level function on Martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh postponed

CHANDIGARH : The Punjab government has postponed the annual state level function to observe the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh on July 31 at Sunam in the light of weeklong national mourning in the memory of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who passed away on July 27, 2015. The fresh date for the state level function to be observed with regard to martyrdom of Shaheed Udham Singh would be announced later on. However, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would pay homage to the great martyr at Sunam on the solemn occasion on July 31. Similarly, the other dignitaries would also pay homage to Shaheed Udham Singh at other places in the state on the same day. Seven-day mourning in the memory of Dr. Kalam, from July 27 to August 2, 2015 is already on in Punjab.
