Sydney teacher in court over multiple charges of sexual assault

Sydney: A 37-year-old teacher faces more than 30 charges of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated sexual intercourse after he allegedly had sexual relationships with two underage students over almost three years.Cameron White, from Eveleigh in central Sydney, did not apply for bail or appear before the court when his matter was heard at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
Police documents tendered to the court said Mr White was a teacher at the Peakhurst campus of Georges River College when he had sexual intercourse with two 15-year-old students multiple times beginning in December 2010.The school is co-educational and caters for years 7 to 10.Mr White faces 28 charges of aggravated sexual assault where the victim is under the authority of the offender, eight charges of aggravated sexual intercourse, and one charge of an aggravated act of indecency. The charges detail that Mr White had sexual intercourse with the two girls without their consent and knew they did not give their consent.It’s alleged the offences were committed at Sutherland, Peakhurst and Oyster Bay.”At the time of the offence [the victims were] under the authority of Cameron White, by reason of [him] being a teacher at Georges River College Peakhurst Campus,” the police charge sheet said.The offences were allegedly committed against the first student at least seven times between December 2010 and June 2011.The second student was allegedly assaulted at least 21 times from February 2012 to November 2013.In a statement on Friday, NSW Police said they arrested Mr White at a high school in Oatley after an investigation began in early May into the alleged sexual assault of two former students.
The website for the Oatley campus of Georges River College, which caters to years 11 and 12, lists a Mr C White as a teacher of HSIE (Humanities) and Vocational Education and Training. A school newsletter dated April 1 names Cameron White as the teacher in charge of “Federation” and “Workplace Health and Safety”.
