US Envoy Verma Visits Darbar Sahib; SGPC Seeks His Help on Problems Faced by Sikhs Abroad

AMRITSAR SAHIB, May 22 : A US envoy Richard Rahul Verma who belongs to India originally, on Wednesday, visited Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and paid obeisance here praying for peace of international community. He also took part in ‘Sewa’ in Guru Ram Dass Langar Hall. He also interacted with the pilgrims partaking ‘langar’ at the facility.He was accompanied by his aide Jenthen Castler, security officers S Fitzerland and Miss Lawnia, press advisor Raja Bhattacharya, Mrs Jasica and Mrs Enee.After paying obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib, he was honoured by SGPC secretary Manjit Singh, Gurdwara manager Partap Singh with model of the supreme Sikh shrine and Siropao. Manjit Singh also handed over a memorandum regarding the problems being faced by Sikhs in the US due to mistaken identity. Additional manager Sukhraj Singh and assistant information officer Amritpal Singh were also present on the occasion. He evinced interest in the history of the shrine.Later, Verma got a glimpse of Punjab’s rich history and culture at the historic Khalsa College. The students wearing traditional dresses sang songs in his honour while he broke the protocol and shook a leg, besides interacting with faculty members and students.
