Vigilance nabs forest Guard accepting bribe

CHANDIGARH : A Forest Guard of Punjab Forest Department was today trapped by sleuths of Vigilance Bureau while accepting bribe of Rs. 4500.
Disclosing this official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that Forest Guard Balkar Singh posted at Forest Department, Block Bhunarheri, Range Patiala was caught on the complaint of Kulwant Singh of Village Malakpur Kamboa. The complainant had alleged that he had cut trees of Eucalyptus and tahli from his farm land adjoining rivulet and. the Forest Guard threatened him to file false case showing that he was cutting trees from Government land. He demanded a bribe to spare him from this false case.
The Spokesperson said that on the tip of complainant a trap was laid and the Forest Guard Balkar Singh was nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 4500 from the complainant.
The spokesperson called upon the people to come forward with complaints of corruption on the website of Vigilance Bureau and toll free lines meant for these complaints and ensured that Bureau would take a swift action maintaining the anonymity of the complainants.
