Villagers continued dharna for registration of case against Badals, bus driver

ROPAR: The incident of death of a person in a road acident involvingh bus belonging to Dabwali Transport owned by ruling Badal family has blown into a full fledged agitation against the Badal family as hundereds of villagers from Behrampur Zimidara and surrounding villages continued their protest dharna through out the night and today morning. They have been demanding compensation of Rs.50 lakhs and registration of case against the driver and owner of the bus.
A private bus allegedly belonging to Dabwali Transport company had yesterday knocked down a scooterist on Kurali-Rupnagar road and driver fled away from the spot. The eyewitnesses have noted the registration number of bus PB03V 1900 which was on way from Chandigarh to Amritsar. The deceased identified as Swaran Singh, aged 37 of village Behrampur Zimidara was dragged by the bus and he died on the spot.
Thed villagers have kept the dead body of the deceased on the road near toll plaza ta Solkhian. A freezer was araanged for the dead body, a generator set was installed on the spot and people from nearby villages served langar to the protestors. The people raised slogans against Badal family and alleged that to save the guilty bus driver and Badals, the police had booked an innocent car driver passing from there at the same time. The police has booked car driver Brahm Parkash Sharma of Amritrsar who claims he was behind the bus an eyewitness of the accident. Jagtar Singh a dhaba owner of Chaklan village corraborated the version of car driver and said he had seen the bus hitting the scooter driver.Meanwhile, large number of political leaders are coming to visit the dharna spot. PPCC President Partap Singh Bajwa is ccheduled to visit today. The local leaders of AAP, Congress and even SAD had joined the dharna.
