White Ferns defeat Indian eves by three wickets in second ODI

Bengaluru, July 01: The New Zealand women’s team learnt from the loss at the first ODI and came on with a much improved performance, beating India by three wickets in the second match of the five-match series.Opting to bat first, India were bundled out for a paltry 163 in 49.3 overs despite opener Thirush Kamini’s solid 61.
Chasing the target, the Black caps failed to get a promising start as they kept losing wickets at regular juncture before Sophie Devine (33) and Katie Perkins (30) steadied the ship by sharing 49-run stand for the fifth wicket.Subsequently, the tourists achieved the target with 34 balls to spare.The victory has made the third ODI the most anticipated game of the series as both teams will be pinning their hopes on the upcoming match to strenghten their bid to qualify for the 2017 World Cup. Earlier, India had won the first match by defending the target of 142 at the same venue.The two teams will square off against each other on July 3.
