Capt Amarinder hails HRIDAY scheme, IIM for Amritsar; AIIMS for Bathinda

AMRITSAR, July 14: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and local MP Capt Amarinder Singh today welcomed the announcement of Heritage Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) scheme for Amritsar by the government of india and hoped it will help to restore and redeem the heritage status of the holy city.
“I thank Mr Jaitely on behalf of the people of Amritsar for this step which should hopefully help in its overall improvement befitting its status and place in our culture and history”, he said.He also hailed the announcement of Indian Institute of Management for Amritsar and the All india Institute of Medical Sciences for Bathinda. At the same time, he said, the government of india should take over the PIMS which is virtually closed even after an investment of about Rs 1000 crores by the Punjab government. He said, converting the PIMS into AIIMS will fulfil the demand of and cater to the needs of the Doaba region also.Thanking the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely for these projects, he hoped that these are taken to their logical conclusion. He pointed out, Amritsar holds special place in history, heritage, culture and religion of the people. He said, with HRIDAY the city should get the right facelift it deserves.
