Congress demands resign from Punjab Minister for insulting National Flag

AMRITSAR: Breaking silence on the goof up at Guru Nanak Stadium during Independence Day celebration, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee(PPCC) general secretary SRS Lalli Majithia has demanded resignation from Punjab Information and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia for dishonouring the National Flag during Independence Day function.Majithia in a statement said that Bikram Singh Majithia was equally responsible for the insults of national honor alongwith other petty officials. He said that it was moral and constitutional duty of the Minister to ensure the honour of National Flag.He said that Bikram is a habutual offender and such goof ups are a part of his life style, any other person at his place would have immediately corrected the mistake before saluting and delivering speech. Doing nothing to correct this dishonor makes him the perpetrator of this insult to the national flag. An officer has been suspended for cover up and the real accused is let off unpunished. He also said that Majitjhia was facing charges for drug case in the Enforcement Directorate.He further said that treachery goes with the name of family of Bikram Singh as as his forefathers used to garner information about the freedom fighters for the British and received rewards in return. Lalli added that Bikram Singh not just insulted the national honor but also insulted the martyrs whom we owe our freedom to. He said that every elected person takes an oath to protect and serve the constitution and national honors but doing so Bikram Singh has proved that he doesn’t have any honor for the country or its law. Lalli demanded that Bikram Singh should either resign or be sacked by the big B and a case be registered against him under the prevention of insults to national honour act.
