DSP among four cops suspended in under-trials escape case

Phagwara, December 9 : Four policemen, including DSP (Jail) Gurpreet Singh, three head constables Harpal Singh, Kabul Singh and Mangat Singh, were on Saturday suspended over the alleged negligence of duty after two under-trials escaped from the Phagwara Sub-jail on Thursday.
DSP (Jail) Rajinder Singh has been given additional charge of the DSP (Jails) in Phagwara.
On Thursday, Amandeep and Rajwinder escaped from the sub jail after throwing tea leaves and pepper into the eyes of the prison staff, while Pawan was overpowered by the jail personnel.
Amanpreet was arrested on November 24 under Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the IPC, while Rajwinder was nabbed on November 29 under the Arms Act.
