Hockey eves lose to Argentina

New Delhi: The Indian women’s hockey team lost 0-3 to Argentina in their last group stage encounter at the Women’s Hockey World League Semifinal on Sunday. India will next take on England in the quarterfinal on July 18.

Hamilton wins British GP
Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix for the fourth year in a row, while a penultimate-lap puncture slashed Sebastian Vettel’s championship lead to a single point. Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas finished 14 seconds behind Hamilton to secure the one-two. Vettel, who was set for a third-place finish until the blowout, finished seventh. Kimi Raikkonen took third.

Sandeep wins 20km walk gold
Haryana’s Sandeep Kumar won the gold medal in the men’s 20km race walk in the National Championships. Punjab’s Baljinder Singh finished third. Haryana’s Parveen came third in the men’s 200m. Haryana’s Manjit Singh won the silver in the men’s 800m. In men’s shot put, Punjab trio Tejinder Toor, Jasdeep Dhillon and Navtejdeep Singh grabbed the top honours.

Lahiri ends week with a 66
Anirban Lahiri finished the Scottish Open with a superb six-under 66, which will boost his confidence before next week’s British Open. At 3-under 285, he may well finish tied 30th when the event ends.
