India-Pak peaceniks hold candle light vigil at border post

WAGHA BORDER(Amritsar): Peaceniks carried candle light vigil at the Wagah Attari land border on the respective side of their countries on the midnight of August 14 and 15 when India and Pakistan celebrating their independence day. Pakistani and Indian peaceniks even raised slogan “Hindustan Zindabad, “Pakistan Zindabad” and “ Hindustan – Pakistan Dosti Zindabad”.Peaceniks have been lit the candle for last two decades with hope to establish peace between the two age old rival countries. But with the ongoing prevailing tension at the border of India and Pakistan the light of these candles seems to getting dim.Pushpendra a peacenik who has been taking part in this ceremony for last few years said that people gather here is the part of a larger picture, dialogue has to go through but it would not possible if other side not reciprocating the gesture. He said, “Pakistan has officially declare that he would support militancy in Kashmir and continuing violating the ceasefire at the Loc and if its continue the light of these candles symbolizing peace would getting dimmer”.Interestingly a day before Border Security Forces decided not to exchange sweets with Pakistan on the occasion of Independence day of the respective countries to registered their protest with Pakistan for continuation ceasefire violation by Pakistan at Loc.But some of the participates still having hopes that the peace would be restored in the region and they would continue their effort for this. Mohammad salim , member Parliament said that its always difficult to keep the candle burning during storm. He said,”with one candle light we could light thousands and we would continue doing our efforts.
