Jathedar Akal Takht condemns Punjab Govt for lathi charge at Bapu Surat Singh’s house

AMRITSAR : Jathedar Akal Takht (highest Sikh temporal seat) Gyani Gurbachan Singh here today strongly condemned Punjab Government and Punjab Police for forcibly shifting Bapu Surat Singh at Government hospital and lathi Charge on innocent people at his house village Hassanpur.
In a written statement issued to media here today, Jathedar said that life of Bapu Surat was most precious for Sikh community but the way Punjab Police entered in his house forcibly and resorted lathi charge on innocent people who were serving the Bapu was highly commendable.
Jatehdar said that the way Punjab Police troops trespassed in the house Bapu Surat was wrong as it reflected the highhandedness of the Authority the way people were beaten up inside the house by Police.Jathedar asked the Punjab Government to create liaison with Union Government at the earliest possible to get released the Sikh prisoners lodged in the different jails of the nation keeping in view of their human rights and in the light of justice. Sikh activist 80-year-old Surat Singh Khalsa who is on hunger strike for 185 days demanding the release of 82 Sikh detainees lodged in various jails of the country who they claim have completed their sentences.
