Ranji: Vidarbha shoot out Punjab for 161 on Day 1

Mohali : Vidarbha seamers shot out hosts Punjab for a paltry 161 on Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy encounter at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.
In reply, the visitors were comfortably placed at 106/1 with S Ramaswamy (52) and Wasim Jaffer (22) unbeaten at stumps. Opener Faiz Fazal (21) was the only batsman out with Abhishek Sharma accounting for his wicket.
Earlier, Punjab were out for 161 runs in just 41.2 overs. The hosts began disastrously with both the openers — Manan Vohra and Jeevanjot Singh — out for duck. Skipper Yuvraj Singh scored 20 runs off 30 balls to leave the team in dire straits. Wicketkeeper Abhishek Gupta (89) was the topscorer for the team.
For Vidarbha, Lalit Yadav and Siddesh Neral took three wickets each. Rajneesh Gurbani and left-arm spinner Akshay Karnewar took two wickets each.
