Two Delhi women gang-raped and beaten up in Goa, 5 arrested

Panji, June 4: The Goa police arrested five men who allegedly gang-raped and assaulted two Delhi-based women in Goa. According to reports, two women from Delhi, aged 22 and 30 were spending their summer vacation in Goa. They both hired a taxi to go Anjuna beach. The five accused stopped the taxi in mid-way posing themselves as anti-narcotic cell officers. The accused were identified as Travor Joseph, Jeevan Pawar, Kamlesh Chowdhary, Ajay Kumar Khushwa and Nadim Sayyed.“The accused posed as policemen and waylaid a taxi in which the two women were travelling to Anjuna on Monday night,” Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar told PTI. The five men took the women along with taxi driver Abhijit Kochrekar to the flat where they allegedly raped and beat them overnight. After the taxi driver had filed a complaint, the police arrested all the five accused in the presence of victims. All accused are are aged between 21 and 27 and were associated to a nightclub of Calangute village which was recently demolished by local people for allegedly supplying prostitutes.
