2 years on, no headway in Behbal Kalan killings

Kotkapura : Members of Sikh organisations staged a protest here today to mark the second anniversary of the death of two Sikh protesters in police firing at Behbal Kalan village in Faridkot district. They alleged that two probe commissions, the CBI and the state police had all failed to nail the culprits. Gurjit Singh (25) and Krishan Bhagwan Singh (45) were shot dead on October 14, 2015, at Behbal Kalan village, 11 km from here, during a protest against the Bargari sacrilege.
Though Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had held SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal responsible for the killings, no action had been taken against any accused in these incidents, which had led to protests across the state, alleged Sikh leaders, including “parallel” jathedars Dhian Singh Mand, Baljit Singh Daduwal and Amrik Singh Ajnala. They said these incidents were part of a conspiracy. “We have lost all hope of justice from the state government as SAD and Congress leaders have a tacit understanding to shield each other,” they claimed. Daduwal said Amarinder had promised that those behind sacrilege would be put behind bars within 40 days of his party coming to power, but there had been no action so far.
