32nd Anniversary of Operation Blue Star passed off peacefully amidst Slogans of Khalisthan

AMRITSAR : Amidst loud voice, the slogans of Khalisthan (a separate Sikh Home land) at Akal Takht ( highest Sikh Temporal Seat) were raised in the premises of Golden Temple here today on the eve of 32nd anniversary of Operation Blue Star which passed off peacefully as no untoward incident reported in and around the Golden Temple premises.President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and former MP Mr. Simranjit Singh Mann was also present at Akal Takhat. Mob led by Mann including sizeable gathering of youth were raising slogans like “Khalisthan Zindabad” “Punjab Sarkar Murdabad”.Jathedar Akal Takaht Gurbachan Singh’s speech was crushed due to loud slogans of Khalisthan,.Addressing the gathering from the ground floor of Akal Takahat, Mann held Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal accountable for infamous Operation Blue Star 1984, besides currently undue interference in the Sikh religious affairs including SGPC. Mann said that if Khalisthan come in existence, in such circumstances people of Hindu and other communities would feel more protected and enjoy full liberty with trades to any of the country throughout the world.Mann asked SGPC to reinstate the Sikh priest Balbir Singh who denied Siropa to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Policemen in mufti led by Commissioner Mr. Amar Singh Chahal and heavy task force of SGPC were present in the premises of Golden Temple watched the raising of slogans of Khalisthan as mute spectators as they didn’t want to indulge in any kind of confrontation with radicals.There was heavy barricading around the Akal Takht in the premises of Golden Temple by SGPC to prevent suspicious entry inside the Takhat and policemen in mufti were also assisting the task force of SGPC.It may be mentioned here that thirty two years back Indian Army had initiated attack on Golden Temple with code name Operation Blue Star to flush out hiding militants in the Golden Temple. The Three days operation was ended up on June 6th 1984 when body of militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala was found and identified. Since then every year in anger SGPC observe Operation Blue Star anniversary as a genocide day and honor the family members of Sikhs who were killed during the Army attack. During the Operation Blue Star nearly 3000 people including army personal were reportedly killed. Operation Blue Star had also caused severe damage to the structure of Akal Takht which hurt the sentiments of Sikh community.
