58571 Blue card holders to be benefitted with Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna

NAWANSHAHR : In a bid to impart quality health services to poor people of the state at specialised hospitals, the Punjab Government has increased the limit of Cashless treatment from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 under Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna (BPSSBY) that would benefit 58571 Blue Card Holder Families of the SBS Nagar district.This scheme, every family upto five members, would be given a smart card having total value of Rs 50,000 per annum for getting treatment at empanelled hospitals. Apart from that, in case of disability of any two limbs or death of any member, then a compensation of Rs. Five lakh to be paid to the aggrieved family. The state government had launched the BPSSBY two years ago for the people who could not meet the criteria of RSBY that was meant for BPL families only, he further added.
Under the state run Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna, all blue card holders could get better healthcare facilities in the district as well as all government and empanelled private hospitals.Dr. Dyal Sarup, Deputy Medical Commissioner SBS Nagar told that the health department had prepared a draft plan for awareness and registration of all beneficiaries in the district by next two to three weeks.Two private hospitals of the district had already empanelled under the scheme while others would also be approached for registration so that maximum health cover to be provided to the beneficiaries.Deputy Commissioner asked the SDMs to make the people aware in advance about the schedule of registration and issuance of smart cards with the help of Sarpanches, Nambardars and Patwaris. He told that twelve machines to be deputed on daily basis depending on the number of beneficiaries covered per day.
