TARN TARAN: Congress leader and former Khadoor Sahab MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki today questioned Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s Sangat Darshan programmes in his assembly segment asking him why he never bothered to visit the area in last four years. He said, no matter how many Sangat Darshans Badal holds in Khadoor Sahab, people there will punish him in the byelection by once again defeating the Akali candidate from there as he had failed to resolve the issue on which he had resigned.
Sikki also ridiculed Punjab Cabinet Miister Bikram Majithia’s challenge to him over his resignation from the assembly over the sacrilege. He said, by challenging him (Sikki) not to contest, Majithia had not only betrayed his lack of confidence but also admitted that the issue for which he had resigned still remained unresolved.
Sikki said, he had resigned from the assembly to protest against the sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib and the failure of the Akali government to identify and punish the culprits. He said, instead of punishing the guilty the Akalis had killed two peaceful protestors. The Congress leader maintained that while the issues continue to remain unresolved the Akalis including Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Badal were trying to divert the attention of the people by way of “government sponsored rallies”. He said, the Akalis and the Badals were badly mistaken that people have forgotten the sacrilege and forgiven them.
