Ravinder Brahmpura is SAD candidate for Khadoor Sahib bypoll

Amritsar : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday announced the name of Ravinder Singh Brahmpura as the party candidate for Khadoor Sahib Assembly constituency bypoll to be held on February 13. Badal officially announced the name of Brahmpura for the bypoll after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple here. Ravinder Singh Brahmpura is the son of sitting SAD MP from Khadoor Sahib Parliament Constituency Ranjit Singh Brahmpura who had lost the 2012 Assembly Election to Congress’ first time candidate Ramanjit Singh Sikki. However, Sikki who had resigned as MLA to protest against the sacrilege incidents in Tarn Taran, hasn’t yet conveyed his willingness of contesting the polls to the Congress High Command as well as state party chief Captain Amarinder Singh. Sukhbir said AAP was never a threat to SAD in any election, adding that, the Congress was the lone rival. He said: “SAD will clinch the Khadoor Sahib seat with a historical margin.” The nominations for the Khadoor Sahib bypoll will begin from Wednesday. The Aam Aadmi Party is not contesting the election as it has its eyes on the bigger battle in 2017.
